Omagh Support and Self Help Group Guide Book for Victims and Survivors (PDF)
*
Book LaunchOmagh Support and Self Help Group successfully launched their practical guide book for Victims/Survivors of the Conflict on Tuesday 26th April 2005, in the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh. The Group were delighted to welcome their special guest for the launch Mr John Clarke, Head of the Victims Unit.

The Guide Book which has been written and published by victims from the Support Group will assist victims/survivors of terrorism with a resource they can access to ensure they are fully conversant with their rights, entitlements and sources of support available.

It gives an account of victims' experiences, what worked well, and what did not. What worked well for one person may not have worked for another; it is for this reason that the guide is as inclusive as possible. It also includes advice and guidance on areas such as Public Inquiries, dealing with the Media, and Evacuation and Emergency procedures.

Our Members hope that this Guide Book will be actively used by other victims/survivors, professionals, and those with an interest in/remit for victims' needs.

The book has also been distributed to the wider public as a process of promoting wider understanding of the effects of terrorism on victims.

If you would like a hard copy of the Guide Book please contact the Omagh Support and Self Help Group, Bridge Centre, 5A Holmview Avenue Omagh, BT79 0AQ. Tel/Fax: 028 8225 9877, email: osshg@hotmail.com

Omagh Voice Of LossThis powerful book is based on interviews with 15 people who lost loved ones in the Omagh Bombing as they continue to recover from their loss. Each interviewee describes the person they lost, their memories of the day of the bomb, the aftermath and their thoughts and experiences seven years later. The account of each family's desperate search for the missing, the harrowing process of identifying the dead and how the bereaved have coped since make this collection of interviews a compelling narrative.
